2015 Oscar Nominations
Songs by John Legend, Rita Ora, Adam Levine and more are up for Best Original Song.

UPDATE: Today (January 29), the Academy Awards organizers have confirmed Rita Ora’s performance. “The mixture of her incredible voice and glamour makes a perfect combination for our show,” said producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron.

Rita Ora will be performing at the 2015 Oscars, according to songwriter Diane Warren.

Warren (who has been working with Lady GagaNile Rodgers and JoJo as of late) was explaining to Vanity Fair how she felt about “Grateful,” the closing-credits power ballad she wrote for Beyond the Lights. The song showed a new side to Ora, the RocNation signee boasting urban/dance roots and who has been heard most recently in songs by Iggy Azalea (“Black Widow”) and Charli XCX (“Doin’ It”).

So while Warren was thrilled to receive the nomination, her first since 2002, she was also disappointed that Ora’s label didn’t release “Grateful” as a single. “I was like, are you kidding me?” Warren says. “[Ora]’s never sung this good, it’s a total hit song, it’s a mass appeal hit record, what the fuck. I hope they’re waking up today, saying, oh, maybe we should put this out as a single. Maybe when she sings for 3 billion people on the stage at the Oscars…”
