Rihanna's "FourFiveSeconds": Listen
Surprise! The 'Unapologetic' diva features Kanye and Paul McCartney on her new song.

Kanye West kicked off 2015 by releasing “Only One,” his poignant ballad featuring Paul McCartney on keyboard. If West’s barber is correct, though, then the Beatles songwriter played a larger role in the Yeezus rapper’s new music than anticipated.

According to Ibn Jasper, who has cut West’s hair since he was 17, McCartney has co-produced the entirety of West’s new album. Here’s where it gets a little confusing: While Rihanna had promoted the just-released “FourFiveSeconds,” featuring both artists, as a “first glimpse” of her new album, Jasper says that this new song belongs to West and will therefore also appear on his upcoming studio release.

Rihanna’s label RocNation had entered a partnership with West’s creative house DONDA last spring.

West has veered in opposite directions with his new music since 2013’s Yeezus. Initial leaks, from “God Level” to “Black Bruce Wayne,” showed that actually, he could go even darker and more tribal than he did on Yeezus standouts “New Slaves” and “Black Skinhead.” Meanwhile, “Only One” and “FourFiveSeconds” sounded closer, in mood and tone at least, to how West once described his new album to the confusion of most — his version of Bruce Springsteen‘s Born in the U.S.A.
