Missy Elliott's iTunes sales skyrocket in wake of her surprise Super Bowl appearance.

Magic Mike XXL hits theaters July 1. And if this just-released trailer is any indication, then this sequel to the 2011 blockbuster should deliver exactly what viewers want of a male stripper story.

The titular character (Channing Tatum) first appears in a tool shed, hitting the grindstone to hiccups of “Pony” — the 1995 Timbaland-produced smash by R&B Lothario Ginuwine, which also made for one of the original’s most tantalizing scenes. The rest of the trailer is a blur of pole dancing, shirts ripping and pelvic thrusting. It’s glorious.

Ginuwine first appeared as part of Swing Mob, a loose collective of artists also including Missy Elliott, Aaliyah and Magoo. Often with Timbaland by his side,  he then churned some of the most enduring R&B hits (“Same Ol’ G,” “So Anxious,” “My Whole Life”) over the past few decades. Remember, “Pony” was also  sampled in Rihanna‘s “Jump,” off 2012’s Unapologetic.

So while Ginuwine has kept relatively quiet since his chart dominance, with appearances here and there on The Arsenio Hall Show and, to everyone’s surprise, Parks & Recreation, a few months ago he revealed that he and Timbaland were working on new music together. Their new joint project is called Same Ol’ G — and, based on how fresh “Pony” still sounds nearly 20 years later, that should be just fine.
