Demi Lovato Talks Fifth Album: “I’ve Never Been More Confident In My Sound”
Demi Lovato delivered titanic pop songs in her last album, 2013’s Demi. Now, she says that her fifth album (out this year) will be even bolder. “I’ve never been more confident in my sound. Never been so sure of who I am as an artist. Never felt this hungry and driven…” she said on Twitter.
“I can’t describe my new sound,” she adds. “The only word that comes to mind is authentic. Very very authentic to who I am [and] the voice I have inside.”
Lovato has nine songwriting credits in Demi. She certainly had a hand in what she promised to be a “personal” album, though as we found while listening to it, she ended up with an album of polished commercial pop (not that there’s anything wrong with that).
With her fifth LP, Lovato also assures that she isn’t catering to the masses this time — a daring statement, coming from the Disney Music Group artist. “Fuck trying to make music that will appeal to the masses for the sake of hit songs,” she says. See her full Twitter update on the upcoming project below.
