Imagine Dragons Announce North America Tour
See the dates for the band's 39-city tour, featuring Metric and Halsey as openers.

Imagine Dragons will release their sophomore album Smoke + Mirrors on February 17. Until then, fans can get a taste of what to expect with the band’s just-released album sampler, featuring a minute each of all 14 songs.

Based on the preview, the Las Vegas alt-rock band’s new music is as emotionally charged as ever. (Lead single “I Bet My Life” indicated just as much.) What Imagine Dragons haven’t done, though, was craft carbon copies of breakout hits like “Radioactive.”

Take the title track, for example: While it begins with the same booming percussion as that enduring chart hit (and its Kendrick Lamar remix), frontman Dan Reynolds allows his voice to coast to a falsetto, rather than howl for an entire arena to hear. For a split second, he sounds exactly like Coldplay‘s Chris Martin.
