Avril Lavigne’s “Give You What You Like” Video Is Brimming With Teen Drama: Watch
After taking an extended break due to a mystery illness, Avril Lavigne returns with the fifth single from her 2013 self-titled LP (kudos for not giving up on it). “Give You What You Like” is an eerie, stripped-back ballad with an even creepier video. It’s largely comprised of highlights from upcoming Lifetime movie Babysitter’s Black Book (it premieres February 21) intercut with footage of the 30-year-old diva channelling her inner-Wiccan in a room full of candles.
“Give You What You Like” is an absolute gem but teaming the brittle anthem with scenes from the campest teen drama of all time — the movie looks amazingly awful — does it no favors. The same goes for styling Avril like she just auditioned for a role in The Craft 2. The Canadian singer/songwriter can still churn out a great tune but perhaps it’s time to freshen up her image/exert more quality control? Watch the (unintentionally) hilarious drama unfold up top.
