The day that we have all been waiting for has arrived!

Jessie J‘s powerhouse vocal style can be attributed to artists like Whitney Houston, and the UK songstress honored the late legend during her Sweet Talker Tour stop at London’s Brixton Academy.

For the three-year anniversary of Houston’s death, Jessie paid tribute to the artist by singing one of her greatest hits — 1993’s “I Have Nothing.”

Prior to the acoustic performance, she told the audience: “Ten years ago this year, I was 16 years old and I auditioned for a girl band at the BRIT School. And the next song I’m going to sing is that song I sang at that very audition. Whitney Houston gave me the strength to believe in myself, she showed me it was ok to be loud, she showed me it was ok to really live inside of your voice, and 10 years on I’m so grateful for that very audition because it got me here today. So thank you Whitney Houston.”

Jessie J is gearing up for her appearance at the first-ever Rock In Rio USA music festival, taking place the weekends of May 8-9 and May 15-16 at the City Of Rock venue in Las Vegas. Sam Smith, Charli XCX, Tove Lo, MAGIC! and more are set for the event.
