Who Will Win The Oscar For Best Original Song This Weekend?

Aside from select fashion interviews, nowadays it is hard to sit Kanye West down for a long chat. But this morning (February 20), the radio hosts of The Breakfast Club on NYC’s Power 105.1 managed to speak with the polarizing rapper for almost an hour!

In the lengthy interview, Yeezy reveals answers to topics many have been wondering about — including The Grammys drama with Beck, the controversy surrounding Tyga‘s alleged relationship with Kylie Jenner and (of course) updates on his forthcoming studio album.

When asked about this year’s Grammy Awards, the rapper explained that he wanted to call Beck after the ceremony to discuss what happened, but it didn’t work out due to their busy schedules. Yet he is still Team Beyonce: “The person that won was Beck, because if I hadn’t done that, his Album of the Year would’ve never been mentioned…He should win an award for what he did —Rock Album— but he shouldn’t have won that award,” West stated.

He then touched on Tyga, where he actually praised his relationship with the youngest member of the Kardashian/Jenner clan. West explained, “I think he got in early, I think he was smart. They are closer in age than a lot of relationships that I know. I knew Tyga was smart.” He also snuck in a diss to his ex Amber Rose in the process: “She’s just soaking in the moment. If Kim had dated me when I wanted, there would be no Amber Rose” and “I had to take 30 showers before I got with Kim.” Ouch!

As for ‘Ye’s new album? He confirms that his is 80 percent finished with the project, and that “Wolves” was inspired by a conversation with Drake:

“[The album has got] bars, songs, cookout music that just feels good. My last album was a protest to music, I was like ‘I’m gonna take my ball and go home’… This album is embracing the music, joy. Being of service to the people. I just hope people like it and enjoy it. [With “Wolves,”] the song came from a conversation me and Drake had where we were supposed to do an album together — it was supposed to be called Wolves… we said we was gonna do it, he was sending beats back and forth.”
