The 2015 Academy Awards were a big night for musicians! From Lady Gaga‘s outstanding Sound Of Music medley to Common and John Legend‘s Selma performance, the artists gave life to the almost four hour-long ceremony.

Once the Oscars excitement died down, Common visited Jimmy Kimmel Live to discuss his Best Original Song win for “Glory.” He revealed Jay Z‘s reaction to the late night host: “He just was really proud. He said something to me that really touched me. He felt that I represented all of us. People from hip-hop, as black men, as people of love, children of God, he felt that John [Legend] and I were representing that with this Academy Award.”

As for that hilarious high five snub he gave Oprah? It turns out the rapper was confused about who it was meant for — him or Legend. “We talked the next day and it was like, ‘I wasn’t trying to play you out,’” he said.
