It’s the end of an era, Gleeksl! After six years, FOX’s Glee is currently airing its sixth and final season. The show’s cast stopped by The Ellen Degeneres Show yesterday (March 12) to speak about their final episode, which airs on March 20.

Lea Michele, Chris Colfer, Jenna Ushkowitz, Darren Criss and Chord Overstreet all shared their experience with taping the last episode with the daytime host.

Criss spoke about the final scene: “We were watching Matt Morrison sing us all a song so we were very much in our own world experiencing this. And in one take they pulled a fast one on us, they took Matt out of it, and basically put the entire crew and production there looking at us.”

Ushkowitz added, “It’s as if you take every family member and friend that you’ve ever loved and that you have to say goodbye to and put them all in front of you at once.”

As for any tears shed on set? “It was really cathartic. Everyone’s always like ‘Are you going to cry? Are you going to cry?’ But it’s like of course you’re going to cry. There are moments where I didn’t feel the need to cry but then everyone else was, so I felt like a jerk for not crying. And then I would join in and go ‘Oh, my god, this feels so good!'” Criss exclaimed.
