After breaking through with "Life Of The Party," Shawn returns with "Never Be Alone." Watch.

In case you missed it, Shawn Mendes dropped a very belated, second video for 2014 breakthrough single “Life Of The Party” earlier this week. The simple piano ballad propelled the 16-year-old from Vine celebrity to legitimate pop star when it shot to the top of iTunes and eventually peaked at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100. The Canadian kid released a simple video to accompany the track, but now delivers something more substantial to promote debut LP Handwritten (April 28).

The new video finds the walking through a (kind of depressing) house party, watching life go on around him. It definitely takes a less-is-more approach but that seems to suit Shawn a lot better — see “Never Be Alone” — that typically colorful teen fare like “Something Big.” Given that his self-titled debut EP debuted at number five on the Billboard 200, expectations are sky high for his full-length album. Another “Life Of The Party” can only help its cause. Watch up top.
