Madonna's 'Rebel Heart': Album Review
Madonna's latest LP 'Rebel Heart' arrived a little (ok, a lot) early. Is it worth paying for?

Madonna’s reputation as an #unapologetic bitch is peerless, so it’s kind of surprising that people still get offended when she throws a little shade. The pop icon, who was born in Bay City and attended the University of Michigan, didn’t have a lot of nice things to say about her hometown or state in that headline-grabbing Howard Stern interview, describing the locals as “basic, provincial thinking people.”

Well, that commentary didn’t sit right with the good people of Michigan and two politicians fired off replies. The delightfully-named Debbie Dingell jumped on Facebook to voice her discontent: “Enough already Madonna! I am probably not being politically correct in someway… but I am tired of Madonna and her cheap shots at Michigan and her hometown.” She then listed what the “Living For Love” diva is missing out on: “I love this state, the people, my friends (some since grade school), the weather (yes all four seasons), sports.”

The Mayor of Rochester Hills took it a step further by penning an open letter to the superstar. “Our community is anything but basic or narrow minded,” Bryan Barnett wrote. “In fact, we are and have been home to some of the brightest minds shaping our world.” He then boasted about the city’s success with robots and patents. (No, really). “We design and build more robots than any other city in North America, and Rochester Hills residents and businesses have been granted over 900 patents.”

While Madonna’s shady antics are always entertaining, Debbie and Bryan win this round. All this passionate talk about pleasant weather and leading technology has pulled on my heartstrings. I know where I’m taking my next vacation!

So, who won — Madonna or Michigan? Have your say in the comments below.
