'Piece By Piece': Album Review
Our take on Kelly Clarkson's latest studio album.

Was it really 13 years ago, way back in summer 2002, when American Idol first hit the airwaves? Turns out it was, and Kelly Clarkson emerged that year as the very first winner of the still-wearily-trudging-along TV singing competition. And the song she first auditioned with in front of Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson and Paula Abdul, in case you don’t recall, was Etta James’ “At Last.”

Kelly swung by Idol last night, where singer belted out “At Last” in full, this time in front of judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. She also got some promo in for her latest album, Piece By Piece, by performing current single “Heartbeat Song.”

Mind you, none of this was nearly as exciting as Salt-N-Pepa mopping up the Idol stage floor with a fantastic rendition of “Push It” last week, but…yay, Kelly Clarkson, everyone!
