Her team says her concert outfit was an "accidental wardrobe misfunction."

Rita Ora had a brief, though memorable cameo in FOX’s Empire. During the season finale, she and Harlem rapper Charles Hamilton rehearse a song, “New York Raining,” that they plan to perform at a tribute concert for hip-hop mogul Lucious Lyon (Terrance Howard). Later, however, Ora backs out of the concert to show solidarity for the just-fired Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson), so neither she nor Hamilton get to perform the song in its entirety.

Since then, Ora and Hamilton have performed “New York Raining” live a few times. Their latest performance was last night (April 4) during The Voice UK‘s finale, where Ora appeared in Twiggy-inspired hair and makeup — a nod to her own British roots, perhaps, though a look that apparently divided viewers. Still, not even Ora’s false lashes could distract from how good their performance was, with her voice as strong as ever and Hamilton’s verses as goofy as can be.

“New York Raining” appears on Empire‘s official soundtrack and also serves as Charles Hamilton’s debut single off Republic Records. Watch The Voice UK performance up top, then revisit the song’s (brief) Empire debut below.
