CHVRCHES Are Back In The Studio
The Scottish synth-pop trio are working on their sophomore album.

CHVRCHES‘ frontwoman Lauren Mayberry has always been outspoken (check out her Guardian op-ed piece from 2013 about online misogyny), and now the singer is addressing the situation once again.

Mayberry responded on Instagram to an disgusting online troll who threatened to rape her, with the very eloquent and effective caption:

My band is lucky enough to have some of the most awesome, supportive and respectful fans in the world and we are so excited to be in the studio making an album to share with them. Yet, on a daily basis, we still receive communications like this. These people never learn that violence against women is unacceptable. But they also never learn that women will not be shamed and silenced and made to disappear. I am not going anywhere. So bring it on, motherfuckers. Let’s see who blinks first.

Misogyny and body shaming in the music industry has unfortunately been a big problem lately, with Selena GomezPinkKelly Clarkson and more being criticized for their female forms as well as Madonna being hammered with ageist remarks. It doesn’t seem to be going away anytime soon, but we’re happy these ladies are not afraid to stand up for themselves and others!
