Mariah Carey's Fabulous "Infinity" Cover
Mariah Carey unveiled the glamorous cover of new single "Infinity" on Shazam.

It’s always tough to add new material to a greatest hits compilation. If the song isn’t impeccable, it’s going to stand out for all the wrong reasons. Imagine then, the pressure of adding a track to a collection of 18 number one hits. It’s a challenge that Mariah Carey tackles fearlessly with “Infinity.” Time will tell if Mimi’s new single scales the same chart-heights as the rest of #1 To Infinity, but it certainly won’t sound out of place on the album.

Produced by Eric Hudson (K. Michelle’s “Maybe I Should Call” and Whitney Houston’s “Worth It”), “Infinity” is distinctly unromantic a kiss-off anthem that sounds like a cross between “Obsessed” and “You’re Mine (Eternal).” It’s a smooth mid-tempo ballad that showcases the pop icon’s full register and knack for writing hilarious one-liners (“Boy you so corny like Fritos” and “If life was a game you’re a free throw” are my favorites).

It’s extremely catchy and quintessentially Mariah. It will be interesting to see how radio responds, but there’s no doubt that Lambs will love each and every second. Watch the lyric video up top.
