OMI's "Cheerleader (Felix Jaehn Remix)"
German DJ Felix Jaehn remixed OMI's reggae jam "Cheerleader" and landed a global hit.

Felix Jaehn topped charts around the globe earlier this year with a remix of OMI’s obscure reggae jam “Cheerleader.” That track has finally caught fire in the US (it’s closing in on the iTunes top 50) and should debut on the Billboard Hot 100 in the next couple of weeks. Not one to rest on his laurels, the German DJ has already moved on to his next single — a cover Rufus & Chaka Khan’s 1983 classic “Ain’t Nobody.”

The track has been remixed and updated multiple times over the years (KT Tunstall, Natasha Bedingfield and Mary J. Blige have all put their spin on the sultry anthem), but Felix’s version still sounds fresh. That has a lot to do with Jasmine Thompson’s delicate vocal. Perhaps because of her age (she is only 14), the Brit imbues the song with a wide-eyed, sense of wonder that sits surprisingly well with the German’s mellow house beats. Check it out below.
