Dawn always shows up R&B's leading ladies with her arty visuals. See her latest.

Dawn Richard ushers in a new era by changing her moniker to D∆WN. “I’m just letting go of my last name,” she says. “It’s time”. The 31-year-old celebrates her rebirth by releasing a new visual from critically-acclaimed LP Blackheart. And, as with previous videos “Blow” and “Tide: The Paradox Effect,” it stunts on the leading ladies of R&B with its breathtaking originality.

Directed by digital artist Kytten Janae, “Calypso” puts a futuristic spin on a well-known Greek myth. “Calypso was a nymph in Greek mythology who lived on the island of Ogygia, where she detained Odysseus for several years,” the former Danity Kane diva explains. “We wanted to capture her essence in the video virtually.” The result is a mind-expanding experience that sits well with D∆WN’s experimental electro-anthem. Watch up top.
