Max Martin Wins Eighth ASCAP Pop Songwriter Of The Year Award: See All The Winners
The 32nd annual ASCAP Pop Awards were held at the Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood, Los Angeles last night (April 29). The event celebrates the commercial and critical success of songwriters and music publishers registered with the organization. Max Martin took home the major award for ASCAP Pop Songwriter Of The Year, which isn’t surprising given the long list of hits the Swede has accrued over the past 12 months (Katy Perry’s “Dark Horse,” Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea’s “Problem” and Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off” to name but three).
The 44-year-old won for the fifth consecutive year and eighth time overall. He is now tied with legendary hitmakers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for the most wins in the awards’ history. Other winners included John Legend’s “All Of Me,” which was named Song Of The Year, and ASCAP Founders Award winners KISS. The Doobie Brothers were also recognized for their achievements as was St. Vincent, who took home the ASCAP Vanguard Award.
