Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Nick Jonas and Fifth Harmony were among the featured performers at KIIS FM’s Wango Tango.

For the (relatively) newer acts, the annual Los Angeles pop music festival was their chance to prove that they’re here to stay. Fifth Harmony didn’t hold back as they sang and danced to “Like Mariah,” as in Mariah Carey. (No wonder the titular singer herself is a fan.)  Jonas pulled off a piano-pop rendition of Tupac‘s “California Love,” though he appeared most at ease when he performed Top 40 hit “Jealous,” especially when fans leaped at the chance to sing the hook for him.

For the more established artists, the event was about showing that they have plenty more to offer, despite what detractors say. To be honest, Justin Bieber didn’t seem all that excited to perform hits from when he was a teen, like “Beauty And The Beat” and “As Long As You Love Me.” (After all, he has made some serious effort lately to prove that he’s grown up.) Meanwhile, headliner Kanye West tried his best to behave himself in between songs.

“I know everybody at the radio station is scared I might talk some shit tonight,” he said, as Billboard reports. He didn’t, to the surprise of some, though fortunately live renditions of songs like “Jesus Walks” were as impassioned as always.
