Bellamy Young (A.K.A. Mellie Grant From ‘Scandal’) Dropped An Album Today
Step aside for the new Queen of Pop! Actress Bellamy Young — perhaps best known for playing First Lady Mellie Grant on hit ABC drama Scandal — dropped her debut LP Far Away So Close today (May 15). And it’s surprisingly good. The 45-year-old double-threat delivers an unusually diverse covers album that jumps effortlessly from Ryan Adams to Pink. (She covers The Truth About Love ballad “Beam Me Up”).
“This was completely super low budget and completely of the heart and just something I’ve always wanted to do, and while I have any opportunities at all, it’s a true bucket list endeavor,” Bellamy told Sirius XM. “It was just me and Brad Wood my producer in his studio in what used to be his garage.” Her final verdict? “It’s a little bit of a bourbon at 2am album.” Listen to the full interview below and buy Miss Mellie’s LP here.
