Meg Mac talks to us about landing a US record deal and working on her debut LP.

From Meg Mac and Jarryd James to Grace and Eves The Behavior, the Australian music scene is hotter than ever. You can now add singer/songwriter Asta and rapper Allday to the long list of Aussies on the brink of very big things. They covered Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” for Triple J’s Like A Version and it immediately went viral. Because it’s so ridiculously good.

The track is staging something of a revival in 2015 with Natalie La Rose interpolating it on breakthrough hit “Somebody.” However, it’s one thing to sample a Whitney Houston song, but a completely different proposition to deconstruct it and turn a much-loved classic into something different, but equally great. The duo, who first joined forces on recent single “Dynamite,” do just that. The dreamy, stripped-back arrangement allows Asta’s vocal to shine, while Allday’s verses bring “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” into the 21st century. Watch their performance below.
