She reveals that Taylor Swift inspired her to open up more in her new album.

Last night (May 16), Taylor Swift invited Ed Sheeran on stage to perform during her first-night headlining set at Rock in Rio USA in Las Vegas. The point of his cameo was to, as Swift put it, celebrate their three-year “friendiversary.”

What was interesting, then, was how they performed a song rumored to be about Swift herself: Sheeran’s “Tenerife Sea.” Since the June 2014 release of x, on which that song appears, fans have cited interviews, dissected the lyrics and even counted the words in the hook (13 — Swift’s lucky number) to show why it must be about the 1989 superstar.

The Rock in Rio performance itself was tame; Swift and Sheeran were merely polite toward each other. But it’s easy to see why the crowd freaked out, regardless: Since “Everything Has Changed,” they’ve had fans convinced that someday, they could be more than just friends.
