Hear The Sexy, Serrated Pop Of Tamaryn’s “Hands All Over Me”

If “Hands All Over Me” is your first encounter with Tamaryn, then you might think she comes from the Haim/Sky Ferreira/mid-’90s school of rock-infused pop. With its ping-ponging guitar-synth interplay, massive chorus and lyrics like “Lift me up I’m holding you tight,” it’s a thrilling bit of jagged pop.

If you’re not new to Tamaryn, then you know she has made her name as a shoegaze artist, having released two lovely albums full of cooed vocals draped in shimmering guitars. The NYC-based musician says her third album, Cranekiss, will be “warm-blooded, and shockingly direct.” Based on this song, that seems to mean she’s deconstructing her genre to create a sort of post-Night Time, My Time pop with the hooks of radio and the heft of shoegaze.

“Hands All Over Me” is on Cranekiss, which is out August 28 on Mexican Summer. The appropriately glamorous video was directed by Danilo Parra (A$AP Rocky, Black Lips), and you can watch it up top.
