Mahogany LOX Unleashes Irresistible Debut Single “Boom”: Listen
Mahogany LOX has serious pop pedigree. Grandfather Berry Gordy founded Motown Records, while brother 8ky 6lu rocked a million parties as one-half of LMFAO. The 20-year-old was even named after the titular character of Diana Ross star-vehicle Mahogany! Music clearly courses through the diva’s veins, so it was only a matter of time before she set out to make her mark on the family business.
After amassing millions of fans on social media via YouTube videos and a support slot on Fifth Harmony’s Reflection Tour, Mahogany drops her debut single “Boom” today (May 26) and it’s a breezy summertime bop with an infectious chorus. Produced by the newcomer’s big brother, the sugary sweet pop anthem effortlessly showcases her bubbly personality and smooth vocals.

How did you settle on “Boom” as the lead single? Honestly, it just felt right. This song really means a lot to me because I wrote it with my brother Sky and I got to really express myself through it.
What was it like working with your brother? Working with Sky has been a dream come true. I’ve always wanted to work with him. Sky is such a talented producer, so it’s easy for him to switch gears into the pop vibe.
Is “Boom” reflective of your debut EP? I believe so! I just love upbeat music that makes you want to dance and smile. So hopefully my EP does that for the people who listen to it!
Do you feel pressure to exceed given the amazing Gordy legacy? It’s definitely on my mind, but I’m gonna focus on being the best I can be and hopefully that makes my family proud.
What was it like touring with Fifth Harmony? Touring with Fifth Harmony was one of the best experiences of my life. Getting to meet so many LOXSmiths and making memories with them makes me so happy I can’t even explain it.
Who are your musical inspirations? I have so many, but to name a few… Mariah Carey, Beyonce, LMFAO, Maroon 5, Michael Jackson and Ed Sheeran.
