Janet Jackson Confirms New Album
Yes! Janet Jackson confirms that she's working on new music and a world tour. Watch.

As the weather begins to warm up — well, not considering this rainy afternoon in New York City — the accompanying music gets more uplifting and vibrant. So in comes in Provo, UT band Fictionist, whose fun-filled “Free Spirit” music video we are premiering today (June 1)!

Shot by Jed Wells, the visual from the self-described glitch-pop/rock outfit is quite the hilarious one! It shows the musical foursome goofing off on set of a seemingly epic film, a glam rock music video and more. Yet the director chooses to answer phone calls from his famous friends (Adam Levine, Bruce Springsteen, etc.) instead of listening to the actors’ requests.

Here is what band member Stuart Maxfield told us about working on the visual:

The “Free Spirit” video was a riot to make. We worked with Jed Wells on the film, and having someone there to collaborate with was a huge asset. For example, wearing the different outfits isn’t something we would have come up with ourselves. Jed did a cool job capturing a transitional period in our career. I think the video ultimately sends the message of just letting things be, letting people be who they are, I like that.

The “Free Spirit” clip tells a story of the band’s roller coaster ride when they signed to Atlantic Records. After parting ways with the label to gain more artistic freedom, Fictionist headed to the studio to record their self-titled fourth studio album (released in October 2014). Along with promoting their new music, the band are gearing up to hit the road with Neon Trees and COIN this summer.
