Becky G Gets Back To Her Rap Roots On “Dodger Blue”: Listen
You would be forgiven for thinking Becky G had left the game behind given the pure-pop sound of breakthrough hit “Shower” and its sultry follow-up “Can’t Stop Dancin’.” The 18-year-old proves doubters wrong, however, by spitting fire on new jam “Dodger Blue” — a buzz track to keep fans occupied while she finishes her debut LP. It’s a reminder, if you needed one, of just how versatile (and fiery) the gap-toothed diva is.
“I wasn’t brought up with a silver spoon in my pocket, mama didn’t raise no fool,” Becky declares at the beginning of the song, before laying down the law. “Get your facts straight I am a Gomez, but no I don’t know Selena — not a rich kid but I’m a boss bitch, drive my Toyota like it’s a Beamer.” The teenager then delves into her bag of sporting metaphors with a ridiculously catchy refrain about “bleeding Dodger Blue.” Listen below.
