The Weeknd Burns Up "The Hills"
The Weeknd returns to his sinister roots in the new video.

The Weeknd is back in mysterious promo mode. After the leak of his Max Martin-produced future smash “I Can’t Feel My Face,” he unleashed “The Hills” without warning accompanied by news that he’d be releasing a new album this year. And now Abel Tesfaye has begun teasing “Chapter III,” which is believed to be the title of the LP. [UPDATE: His Twitter bio reads “Chapter 1: Trilogy | Chapter 2: Kiss Land | Chapter 3:” indicating the title has yet to be revealed.]

Up top is a III teaser, which may help put this prior Instagram post into context:

Josep Vinaixa reports that the leaked Martin collab will see an official release on June 9 as Chapter III‘s lead single, and that Tesfaye co-wrote it with Martin, Ali Payami, Savan Kotecha and Peter Svennson (essentially the same team behind “Love Me Harder”).

Even though it would be his second proper album, the Chapter III title makes sense, as it’s The Weeknd’s third commercial release and marks the third phase of his career, if the trio of mixtapes is part one and Kiss Land is part two.
