Interview: Leighton Meester Talks Debut LP & What's Next
You’ve gotta respect the gangster of Leighton Meester.

Leighton Meester’s Heartstrings debut album was one of the most underrated gems released last year, so we’re glad to see the mom-to-be continuing to promote the project with various appearances.

The singer/actress stopped by The A.V. Club‘s A.V. Undercover series to perform not one of her own tunes, but a ’90s classic (and karaoke favorite) — The Cardigans’ “Lovefool.”  Leighton and the backing band pretty much stuck to the original’s disco-tinged production, but added in her own delicate and romantic vocal inflections.

In our interview last month, Leighton shared that she’s ready to go back on the road: “We’re trying to work out more dates, but something within the US, probably, to round it out. I did nine cities sort of Northeast, Midwest and Northwest, so I’d like to do some Southern United States areas. That would be really fun.” Hopefully she will release those dates sooner than later.
