Dawn Richard Joins ‘Free The Nipple’ Movement With Topless Tweet: See The Empowering Pic
Dawn Richard joined the fight against double standards by freeing her nipple on Twitter this morning (June 11). The “Titans x James Dean” diva shared an arty topless pic, which finds her rocking green hair rollers and face-paint. The 31-year-old follows in the footsteps of artists like Miley Cyrus, who contributed a song to soundtrack of Linda Esco’s 2014 Sundance-selected documentary Free The Nipple.
Since bowing out of Danity Kane, the alt-R&B singer has completely reinvented herself with a bold new image and edgy, experimental sound. She even has a new name! D∆WN (the new moniker) won rave reviews for her Blackheart album and established herself as a visual pioneer with a stream of mind-bending videos. Most recently she dropped the excellent “Running From Sane” as part of Adult Swim’s summer singles series.
