Samantha Jade Interview
We talk to Samantha Jade about her comeback, working with Max Martin and Jive Records.

What’s a flawless diva to do when her singles stop slaying the charts? The answer, obviously, is to call Pitbull. The tactic worked for Jennifer Lopez (“On The Floor”), Christina Aguilera (“Feel This Moment”) and Kesha (“Timber”), so Aussie pop star Samantha Jade is in good company. The comeback queen teams up with the career-reviving rapper on new single “Shake That” (due July 17) — which could be a total jam if the snippet is any indication.

“One foot in, one foot out,” the “Firestarter” vixen sings over percussive beats. “Gotta step up if you wanna get down. Shake that!” It sounds like a cross between Stripped-era Xtina and anything Gwen Stefani has released in the last two decades. Which works for me. Samantha has dropped at least five (very good) singles since winning X Factor Australia in 2012, but her long-overdue debut LP is still nowhere in sight. On the bright side, it now has a name! Angel is expected to drop later this year.
