A Beginner's Guide To Janet Jackson
Here's everything you need to know about the legendary Miss Janet Jackson.

Ever the humanitarian, Janet Jackson is returning to save pop music. The 49-year-old announced her comeback in a cryptic video, before releasing concert dates for the Unbreakable World Tour and even unveiling a snippet of new material. Time will tell if radio actually plays the legendary diva’s new single (they all but ignored her last three albums), but to quote her 2000 chart-topper “it really doesn’t matter.” She’s back and that’s enough for the JJ faithful.

To celebrate Janet’s return, I’ve whipped together a gallery of the comeback queen’s best single covers. Some of them will be instantly recognizable — the militaristic chic of “Rhythm Nation,” the ’80s-defining “What Have You Done For Me Lately” and the next-level hairstyle displayed on “Together Again” — but others are not quite as familiar. Like the questionable (but still amazing) ensemble she rocks on the “Because Of Love” artwork or her punk moment on “Son Of A Gun.” Click through the gallery up top.
