Vic Mensa debuted a new Skrillex-produced song, “No Chill,” on June 18 during a Los Angeles concert. On the cut he boasts of being part of Kanye West‘s inner circle, after appearing on “Wolves” and getting a guest verse for his own “U Mad.”

“On the phone with ‘Ye / he on the plane, he says ‘What’s up,'” Mensa raps.

Mensa recently signed to Jay Z‘s Roc Nation Records, an exciting development for the young, Chicago-bred emcee, whose peers include Chance the Rapper. It’s just too bad that in “No Chill,” Skrillex’s production sounds too similar to Sonny Digital‘s in Future‘s 2012 song “Same Damn Time,” which co-opted Lex Luger‘s canned orchestral sound from up to five years ago.
