2015’s Song Of The Summer: Vote In Our Poll!
Who has this year's official Song Of The Summer? Have your say with our poll!

If the absence of  breezy new retro-cool music by the likes of Betty Who and Kiesza has left you feeling a bit empty in 2015, allow us to introduce you to New York’s Lily McQueen and her wistful, candy-coated pop single “Miss You Tonight.” The track is the lead offering from Lily’s upcoming self-titled EP (out July 7 via Concierge Records).

If we had to sum it up with a decade-appropriate comparison, we’d say “Miss You Tonight” sounds like the missing link between Janet Jackson‘s Control-era output and the best of late ’80s Lisa Lisa And Cult Jam.

A press release for the song states the following:

Born and raised in Brooklyn, Lily McQueen started performing at her college upstate in an all-female country band. The girls covered artists from Bonnie Raitt to The Band along with original ballads. Lily returned to New York City where she combined her love for the supernova female musicians of the 70s and 80s with the radio pop of her youth.

Looks like, just in time, summer got a bit brighter thanks to this newcomer.
