2015’s Song Of The Summer: Vote In Our Poll!
Who has this year's official Song Of The Summer? Have your say with our poll!

As the months get hotter, pop artists usually attempt to throw in every cheesy synth into their tunes in order to claim their Song Of The Summer title. But in comes SVĒ, a Brooklyn singer who is taking an opposite, much darker route. Today (June 23), we at Idolator are premiering her stunning “BLKNBL” single.

The mid-tempo track dodges the current wave of club-ready bangers, while harnessing a pure dance vibe. It starts off quite mellow, yet kicks in at full-force once the ’80s-tinged drums pound in your eardrums. The singer’s bold and slightly icy vocals on “BLKNBL” as she sings about leaving an ex-lover are the perfect match for its cloudy, trance-like production. Look out for SVĒ’s full-length debut, My Religion, on June 30.

Read on to see what SVĒ had to say about “BLKNBL,” and take a listen to the tune below.

“‘BLKNBL’ is the second track on the record, but the very last song I recorded for the album. It is one of the most personal, self reflective songs I have written. I wanted to write a song about my worst critic …myself. I can not speak for everyone, but I have endless conversations in my head with myself daily. What to do, what not to do,  is that good enough, is it not enough, will anyone like this?  It was important to expose cruel side of me, let her know…I’m aware she will show up and talk shit, will always be there, but I’m over listening. I know I am meant to do great things, I just need to get out of my own way.”
