Every now and again something or someone gives you reason to believe that the world is (just maybe) becoming a more progressive place. The success of Austrian drag-pop diva Conchita Wurst is one such hope-giving occurance. The 26-year-old came to fame by winning Eurovision in 2014 with soaring ballad “Rise Like A Phoenix,” but unlike most contest winners, he hasn’t faded away into obscurity. As his German Rolling Stone cover proves.

Tom Neuwirth (he identifies as a man and considers Conchita to be a character) poses on the striking cover with long locks, full make-up and trademark beard. Oh, and the “You Are Unstoppable” singer also rocks tape over his nipples! Check out the cover and click through pics from the shoot below. Conchita’s self-titled debut LP was released in May.
