Florence + The Machine Cover Foo Fighters At Glastonbury: Watch
Florence Welch, as Florence + the Machine, paid tribute to Foo Fighters during her headlining Glastonbury set on June 26. She performed a majestic cover of the band’s 2002 fan favorite “Times Like These” — an incredibly sweet gesture, since she replaced the Foo Fighters as a headliner due to frontman Dave Grohl‘s recent leg injury.
“We would like to dedicate this next song to the legend and all around incredible human being, Dave Grohl,” Welch says. “He was so incredibly kind and supportive to us when we were first starting out and we were so sad to hear that he broke his leg because we love him so much.”
Grohl injured his leg during a recent Foo Fighters concert in Sweden, when he fell from the stage and landed in the pit — a 12-foot fall. He proceeded to perform sitting down, as a paramedic tended to his leg on stage. Welch can surely sympathize. During her Coachella performance to promote her third album How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful, she jumped off the stage to join the crowd, only to break her foot.
