How many great songs does Niykee Heaton have to record before people look past her legendary Instagram account and admit that she’s an incredibly talented singer/songwriter? Seriously, there are more hits on her SoundCloud than your fave’s last album! Take new track “Say Yeah.” A woozy ode to living in the moment, the self-produced anthem burns with the fire of youth and boasts the best intro of 2015.

“You see us as you want to see us, in the simplest terms and the most convenient definitions,” Niykee declares at the beginning of the song. “What we found out is that each of us is a brain and an athlete and a basket case, a princess and a criminal.” After delivering that shot of Breakfast Club realness, the 20-year-old shows off with hook-filled verses and a meaty chorus. “Ready set go, gotta fuckin’ say yeah tonight, tonight we’ll do all the things we want tonight.” In a perfect world, this would grace the soundtrack of the next classic teen movie.
