Pop Perspective: Demi's "Cool For The Summer"
The Idolator editors review and rate Demi Lovato's "Cool For The Summer" out of 10.

Demi Lovato’s new single “Cool For The Summer” got off to a great start on radio. The Max Martin-produced earworm had a first day audience impression of 12.993 million on pop stations (13.363 million over all). That was enough for the song to land at number 42 on the pop airplay chart. Given that it’s currently number one on iTunes (it reached the top in less than six hours), it’s fair to say that the 22-year-old has a major hit on her hands.

The Disney diva is really switching things up this era. Demi revealed that her new material is “provocative” and told Ryan Seacrest that we can expect a fun and frivolous album. “I’m no longer serious,” the “Neon Lights” hitmaker said. “I’m done with the sob stories. New chapter, new life, new album, new single — this is a completely new Demi.” It looks like fans are responding exceptionally well to Demi 2.0.
