Lil Wayne announced his Free Weezy Album six months ago, when he and Birdman were no longer in speaking terms. The title isn’t referring to the album’s cost; it’s a plea to the Cash Money honcho and his longtime father figure, to release him from the label after refusing to drop the still-delayed Tha Carter V.

Then two weeks ago, Lil Wayne told fans that FWA will be out July 4. Despite his still-contentious relationship with Cash Money, this actually seemed possible because of another, just-announced partnership — his co-ownership of Jay Z‘s streaming service Tidal. Today (July 4), Tunechi actually followed through on his promise — FWA, featuring guest verses by Wiz Khalifa and Jeezy, is now streaming, yup, on Tidal.

Was it worth the wait? Not exactly. Like in most of his post-Tha Carter III releases, Lil Wayne’s attempts to be clever end up being clunkers: “We serial killers, you can get your Captain Crunch, n—,” “It’s 22-5 for the B and 11-5 for the Solange and “I thought I was whippin til that pussy whipped me/ I fell asleep in it like Whitney.”
