Britney Spears Hit The Studio With DJ Mustard
Britney Spears recently hit the studio with DJ Mustard, the producer revealed at London’s Wireless Festival. “I haven’t told nobody yet, but I’ve been in the studio with Britney Spears. It’s harder than hard — it’s a movie,” he said to ThisIsMax. (Here’s to hoping this session was for the singer’s ninth studio album, since he didn’t say so himself.)
DJ Mustard took over hip-hop in recent years with his minimalistic mix of hard-hitting 808s, snaps and chants — a revamped take on Bay Area rap production. Just as that sound crossed over into pop (see: Iggy Azalea‘s “Fancy,” Sophia Grace‘s “Best Friends” and actually, “Pretty Girls”), though, Mustard began toying with that foundation to further distinguish himself from copycat producers, as heard in Tinashe‘s “2 On.”
Spears just hit the studio earlier this week, with producer Ian Kirkpatrick and songwriters Chantal Kreviazuk and Simon Wilcox — musicians who specialize in pop hits above all else, with past credits including Gwen Stefani, Kelly Clarkson and Nick Jonas.
