Future Hit: Clairity’s “DNA” Is A Dreamy Synth-Pop Jam That Will Get Under Your Skin
Suburban Tennessee isn’t exactly the corner of the music universe where you’d expect to find a teenager with an predisposition for crafting sweeping synth melodies, but such is the case with cute-as-a-button Clairity, whose track “DNA” is about to catch pop lovers starved for something new off guard this summer.
Vocally, you might mistake Clairity for Marina Diamandis or even Betty Who, but this 17-year-old is a creation of all of her own. She comes packed with a penchant for songwriting, drawing and, according to her label, Nintendo 3DS.
“DNA” is a the lead track off Clairity’s forthcoming EP Alienation, which arrives July 17 via Lava Records. And in a year when old favorites are giving us one disappointing, cookie-cutter release after another and the songs of the summer are already sounding played out, “DNA” gracefully offers us an electronic pool of sound as a means of escape.
