Kaya Stewart’s “Feel Good”: Idolator Song Premiere

If you need further proof past “In Love With A Boy” that up-and-coming pop force Kaya Stewart is an old soul packing the voice of a seasoned veteran, you really only need to take one listen to her brand new track “Feel Good,” which Idolator is premiering today. Shining brass, jazzy piano notes and Stewart’s knockout vocals combine here for a soulful R&B-pop jam that would likely make a teen-aged Stevie Wonder grin from ear to ear.

Kaya is, of course, no ingenue who just discovered her passion for singing; the (believe it or not) 15-year-old Angeleno is the daughter of Brit and Golden Globe award-winning musician Dave Stewart of Eurythmics — and the elder Stewart’s longtime musical partner, Annie Lennox, acted as Kaya’s creative mentor while the teenager was growing up.

When her first single, “In Love With A Boy,” debuted this past spring, we noted that it was “a mercurial blend of slinky hip-hop beats and quasi-industrial synths” that made for “an interesting soundscape for a teenager, but Kaya has enough attitude to hold her own.” Make no mistake: “Feel Good” packs the same wallop.

Kaya’s In Love With A Boy EP, which features the title track and “Feel Good,” will be released tomorrow (July 10).
