Cody Simpson Interview
Cody Simpson spoke to us about his new acoustic album and Justin Bieber collab.

Cody Simpson has come a long way since releasing bubblegum-pop classic “iYiYi” back in 2010. The Aussie teenager embraced an acoustic rock sound, taught himself how to play guitar and decided to go down the independent route with new LP Free, which drops July 10 (ie. tomorrow). That’s a gutsy move, but it seems to be paying off with a string of impressive singles — “Flower” and “New Problems” — and an unexpected collaboration with R&B “it” girl Tinashe.

The “Thotful” crooner serves up another taste of Free today with the breezy “Livin Easy.” Produced by Cisco Adler, the new track finds Cody in full Jack Johnson mode — singing about his laid-back approach to life over a strummed guitar. For the video, he performs the song in front of a projector playing a home movie. That is intercut with footage of the 18-year-old surfing, soaking up the sun and generally chilling out. Watch up top.
