Kevin Rudolf Delivers The Kookiest Lyric Video Of 2015 With “That Other Ship”: Idolator Premiere

It’s been a minute since we’ve heard new music from Kevin Rudolf. Happily, the guitar-wielding rocker/producer returned this week with two tracks from his long-overdue third LP. “Blaze Of Glory” is the kind of balls-to-the-wall rock anthem that is destined to be played at sporting events for years to come, while “That Other Ship” is a little more out there musically.

“I’m going back to my roots with the new music and drawing on more classic rock influences,” the “Let It Rock” hitmaker explains. “What I like and what I do naturally, usually run pretty opposite to what’s going on in the pop music world, so that’s some of the inspiration behind ‘That Other Ship.’ It was originally written as ‘That Other Shit,’ because I find myself saying that phrase constantly.”

“It just became a song that captures the whole attitude of being as far out as you can go musically,” he continues. That attitude is reflected by the lyric video, which plays like a bad (or perhaps very good!) acid trip. “For the lyric video, my friend Jamie Lidell introduced me to Claire Christerson — a really brilliant director and performance artist in NYC,” Kevin says. “She’s got a really wild mind and an amazing vision, so after she heard the song, it all came together seamlessly and turned into this super trippy lyric video.” We’re excited to premiere it below.
