REPORT: Kylie Minogue Is Working On A Disco-Influenced Christmas Album
Kylie Minogue could be following in Mariah Carey’s festive footsteps by releasing a Christmas album. The Sun (obviously not the most reliable source) reports that the Aussie pop icon is working on a seasonal LP comprised of “classics” and “disco-influenced” originals. The project is rumored to be part of a one-album deal with Warner/Parlophone. “Kylie is halfway through recording it,” a source told the newspaper. “It’s believed all the tracks will be disco-influenced.”
“It’s likely the album will include a mixture of festive classics and even some original material,” they continue. “She wants to take her time on a new release but can’t be away from the charts for long, so a Christmas album is the obvious choice.” It wouldn’t be the first time Kylie has dabbled in Yuletide fare. Her version of “Santa Baby” (originally the B-side of 2000 single “Please Stay”) reenters the UK singles chart annually and she released a festive EP called A Kylie Christmas in 2010.
I’m not sure how accurate this report is, but a disco interpretation of “Away In A Manger” would be amazing! Check out Kylie’s seasonal fare below.
