Check out these under-the-radar acts riding the nu-wave.

Back in the spring of 2014, we premiered Promise, the slinky debut EP by Chicago-based duo Kinky Love, and I still contend that it was one of the best under-the-radar synth-pop releases of that year. Now a trio, the group is prepping its Love Label EP for an August release, and we’re excited to premiere the video for “Ten Seconds” off the new project.

The idyllic ’80s-inspired digital sway heard on Promise seems to have been the calm before the storm, as “Ten Seconds” is a noisier affair with its chopped vocals and spiky percussion. There’s an undercurrent of ’90s electro and trip-hop, and the black-and-white video fits with those stark tones, showing the band banging out the song at some makeshift construction site.

Check it out up top.
