Major Lazer & MØ Follow Up “Lean On” With Reggae Cover Of Frank Ocean’s “Lost”: Listen

While it seems highly unlikely that Frank Ocean‘s sophomore LP will be released in July, despite the singer’s announcement along those lines in early April, perhaps we can make due with Major Lazer‘s latest pair-up with Danish songbird ? The two acts have come together once again, after triumphantly taking top honors on Idolator’s Song Of The Summer poll with “Lean On,”  for a cover of Ocean’s 2012 Channel Orange single “Lost.”

Diplo & Co. opt to strip out the original funk-lite vibe of Frank’s version and give the track a complete reggae-pop overhaul. It’s more of a reinvention than a cover, and it actually works better than you’d think. But if you don’t like it, Major Lazer are offering it up as a free download on their SoundCloud — so quit your bitching and grab it anyway.

While this rendition of “Lost” is not included on Major Lazer’s June release, Peace Is The Mission, there’s no word on whether or not it will make the cut for that album’s forthcoming follow-up, reportedly titled Music Is The Weapon.
