Tori Kelly dropped by Jimmy Kimmel Live last night (July 20) to perform new single “Should’ve Been Us,” which debuted at number 90 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week. As usual, the 22-year-old nailed it — demonstrating the full extent of her vocal prowess with a flawless rendition. She then took it back to the beginning with a killer mash-up of Justin Timberlake and Jay Z’s “Suit & Tie” and Michael Jackson’s “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing).”
You see, before studio sessions with Max Martin and show-stopping performances at awards shows, Tori was on that YouTube grind — belting out clever covers in the hope of being discovered/signed. As such, the Unbreakable Smile diva’s unexpected mash-up not only sounded great, but was also a tribute to the fans that have supported her from the get-go.
