Switching between acting and singing is a fairly typical career move for most teen starlets. However, it’s less common for Academy Award nominated actresses like Hailee Steinfeld. The 18-year-old, who is signed to Republic Records, will release her debut single “Love Myself” on August 7. Produced by Swedish duo Mattman & Robin, the upbeat club-banger preaches self-love with uplifting lyrics like: “Gonna love myself, no I don’t need anyone else.” (You can listen to a preview below).

Hailee promotes that release (and lets everyone know that she can actually sing) by teaming up with Shawn Mendes for a pretty acoustic version of his hit ballad “Stitches.” The duet works surprisingly well with the talented teens swapped verses and harmonizing on the chorus. While “Love Myself” sounds like a lot of a fun (and a no-brainer for radio), this type of content could be a much better fit for the “Bad Blood” video star. Watch up top.
